on this day, 11 years ago, i walked into my freshman algebra II class thinking it was just another day of high school.

one student came running in to turn on the television.

all i saw was smoke coming from one of the world trade center towers.

our teacher insisted on going on with class, wanted to turn the television off, but compromised by letting us leave the television on, but the volume off.

i have no idea what she taught that day, as all of us had our eyes glued to the screen in silence, watching as both towers fell.

i didn't know what it meant, i didn't know what impact it would have on the world.  i certainly didn't think it would be still affecting us today.

now, as an adult living near new york city, i see a city moving forward, but not forgetting the past. a city rebuilding, and not letting that day hold it back.

today we remember the ones who lost their lives, remember the heros that stepped forward to save lives, and remember all those affected by that tragic day...

i love you, new york city!!

P.S. remember you can visit the memorial for free, you just have to reserve tickets ( here! )
P.P.S. on a brighter note... parenthood starts tonight... is anyone else as excited as i am!?!?
