bbq and booze

if you have even just an OUNCE of backyard space when you live in the city, what's the best way to use it!?!?

bbq and booze, of course!!

1. it's too shady to lay out.
2. it's too small to play any fun yard games (it's not even big enough for cornhole , people!!)
3. there's no grass, only concrete and mulch
4. most of our friends don't have outdoor space, so we share the wealth by bbq-ing and booze-ing
5. we LOVE to cook, we LOVE to entertain!!

(salad was simply juicy tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil, drizzled with balsamic vinegar)

(see chicken marinade recipe here... we turned it into skewers with red onion, green peppers, and pineapple instead though)

...and let it be known that this is the SECOND time we had 10 people at our home for dinner!!  we're getting good at this entertaining-in-a-small-space thing.  we need to do it more often! we can feed a crowd cheaper than a date night for 2!  AND everyone brings booze! when there's free food for everyone, $12 for a 6-pack of decent beer doesn't sound quite so bad! (the alternative is $20-30 entrees and $6-10 beers)

mucho thanks to our upstairs neighbor for beautifying the backyard!  she supplied the awesome table and chairs, (not the yellow ones though!  those are mine!  i DIYed them here), supplied the tiki torches, takes care of the backyard, and supplied the gas grill :D  it was the least we could do to invite them to the bbq!!

thanks to everyone who joined!  i deem it a success. and we vow to host more bbq's more OFTEN this summer! it's the best way to spend a beautiful sunday at home!
